Blighted properties to enter demolition bid process
Supervisor Amy Cline gave an update on four blighted homes slated for demolition using Act 152 funds, a state-authorized program that supports removal of structures meeting blight criteria.
The homes are located on Pine Avenue, Mallory Lane, and two on Rainbow Run Road.
She said at least two of the structures are in such poor condition that they are assumed to contain asbestos, as they are too unsafe to conduct formal surveys.
The township engineer provided specifications for the demolition bid, which were shared with the Steel Rivers Council of Governments (SRCOG), which administers the funds for member municipalities. SRCOG will run ads for demolition bids in the Post-Gazette. Bids will be opened on April 30th.
How should the township prioritize addressing blighted properties?
Demolish unsafe structures as quickly as possible
Combine demolition with plans for redevelopment
Focus more on preventing blight before it happens

Supervisors approve $500,000 grant application to repair two bridges
As part of ongoing infrastructure needs, supervisors approved a resolution to pursue $500,000 in funding to renovate the Kelly Hollow and Rippel Road bridges.
Cline said the township had previously applied for funds from the Gaming Economic Development and Tourism Fund (GEDTF), but was advised by State Senator Nick Pisciottano that the application would not be approved as those funds had been exhausted. Pisciottano urged the township to apply for a state multimodal grant, which supports transportation infrastructure projects.
Cline said the township will be able to adapt much of the application for GEDTF to apply for the multimodal funds.
